Board meeting of the Balkan and Euro-Mediterranean Network of Councils for the Judiciary

The last Board Meeting of the Balkan and Euro-Mediterranean Network of Councils for the Judiciary (BEMNCJ) took place in Rome on 21-22th April 2016. For the invitation of the Italian High Council for the Judiciary was present Mr. Gjin Gjoni, the President of the Network, the representatives of Supreme Judicial Council of Bulgaria, High Council of Judges and Prosecutors of Turkey, High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Secretariat of the Network from Budapest.

The aim of the two-day event was preparation of the upcoming Plenary of the BEMNCJ in Rome on 13-14th June 2016. According to the decision of the last Plenary two professional topics will be discussed in Rome: 1. internal independence of the judges and prosecutors as a factor of increasing efficiency in the Judiciary 2. the role of media in the independence of the judiciary. The members are preparing common questionnaires and they also delegate speakers to the session. The draft of the next year annual working plan was also accepted by the board. The Plenary will decide about the final annual working plan of 2016/2017.
